Things that I just dont get - VI

Almost every other day I come across something or the other that perplexes me to my core. There are many anecdotes that we end up growing up with, which are literally hurled upon us by our parents or our relatives.

One such anecdote I remember about the nice looking mustard seeds. I have always heard that they are good for the health and consuming them gives one nice lustrous black hair, may be that is the reason we have mustard hair oil as well. I remember being advised my paternal grandmother to apply the mustard all the time to get flowing strong hair like the flower of mustard's.

Adhering to that advise, I do apply mustard hair oil on my head, and I do believe that my hair will remain good with its application. But my recent thoughts about the good sounding prophecy of mustard and its oil have altered. The reason for the same is that I saw pictures of my good friend.

This is my friend with me in the pictures below. The first one is about a year ago; and the one below is a recent one. You can see that in the older picture he still had a thick horse shoe structure on his head; but the recent one just has a mark of that horse shoe, well a receding mark.

Well these pictures of him have made me have serious doubts on the potency of mustard seeds. It is because this friend not only applies mustard oil on his head, but also eats food cooked in it as well as has food made in gravy made of mustard seeds.

If a person who has eaten just mustard, mustard and mustard all his life can go bald like this, I wonder what use is of mustard anyway???

I got no answers...

Beauty - The Aditi Way

beauty-and-me
Being beautiful is a state of mind. Frankly speaking I have never really felt beautiful looking myself in the mirror. It is actually when I see myself with my eyes closed that I find myself beautiful. What else would I call my state of being which has neither extra baggage of guilt, nor the self-checked in luggage of grief and sorrows. It has been beautiful in every part of it, from each and every corner that I have routed in my life. Beautiful friends and family around me has rubbed off their beauty in me. With years and age passing by, people tell me that I have become more beautiful. I know for sure it is not a factor of cosmetics painted on the face nor the trendy wardrobe to complement. Many a times we fail to believe that it is not the masking that beautifies; rather the plain, simplicity that comes out as the foundation of beauty. Simply put, white is the colour of purity, so is the case with beauty.

On the contrary, I do not understand why such an obsession to look beautiful? Beauty is rather an abstract form, which can take shape and dimensions as per an individualist perception. How else you explain the sudden and gradual fascination for a tanned complexion. In the growing up years, globally it was the WHITE that marked the basic criteria for BEAUTY. Luckily with times passing by, definition of beauty has broadened and included bronze complexion as the very entrant in the beauty circles.

Clarity of heart and earnest intentions do have a way to work up on the overall human body structure. Even the toughest and unnoticed body parts like the elbows glow with happiness and beauty when you strive to make your thoughts and mind beautiful.
wake up to the internal scrub that sloughs off the impurities and invigorates each and every bit of you.

Loving life in the process of living it, gifts the boundless beauty as a gift. Cherish it in your heart and soul; it is bound to catch up all over you!!

Tangles

It is getting so difficult. Tangles and tangles everywhere. My thin fine hair has all got tangled because I got them permed. Perming was done with the intention to make them look better on me. But see, now they have all gone bad.

The same is happening with my life now....

In the pursuit of more happiness, all fine things got tangled.

What to do now....

Well I can gift my hair to some birdy, she can make her nest out of that.

Chalo kisi ka to ghar bas jayega.....

P.S: Looking at this blog again today, I can add few more sentences to it, which are as follows:

The sub-category is indeed apt for this one. This one I wrote when my hair got badly tangled because I think I had washed my hair with conditioner, ..,what to do,these days the bottles are similarly packed, the shampoo one and the conditioner, so I got confused. And the funnier part was when I posted this one, the google ad displayed on the side bad changed to "Knotty Boy tangles remover, tried and tested on horses too..."LOL
